The Manure Analysis Proficiency Testing Program for LaboratoriesWith increasing utilization of animal manures by Ag producers there is a growing need to verify the chemical analysis of these materials. The Manure Analysis Proficiency (MAP) Testing program has been developed for the chemical analysis laboratory industry to verify laboratory analysis performance on animal manures. The goal of the program is to provide the Laboratory Analysis Industry with an inter-laboratory QC program. The MAP program operational guidelines are based on those outlined under ISO 9000, ISO/IEC Guide 43 and ISO/IEC Guide 17025 which describe the requirements for proficiency testing schemes. Source manure materials are collected from dairy, swine, beef and poultry facilities. Materials used in the program are pre-evaluated and tested for homogeneity. Support for this program is provided by the US Environmental Protection Agency and the Soil Science Society of America is the program administrator. |
